FILIUS FIDDLES, LLC

A violin by G.E. Dutcher, of Akron, Michigan, 1929. This is a wonderful example of early 20th Century American violin making. The carving is very good,  the tone is clean, crisp and woody, and the playability is excellent. $900.00

An American violin, no discernible provenance other than made in this country. Beautiful one-piece back with a strange burn or stain, possibly in the form of a sitting gorilla? (What can I say?) Wonderfully playable with a good, woody tone. $800.00

A violin by tone wood specialist Simeon Chambers, early 2000s,  from Colorado. Mr. Chambers secures his tone wood from the  elevations of the Colorado High Sierras. He locates dead standing Englemann spruce trees and harvests them. The top wood of this violin is from 1948. Besides being quite  beautiful, this fiddle has some awesome tone, from strong clear bass to commanding treble highs. The playability is a joy as well. $1,500.00

A violin by Luther Bradbury, New Castle, Indiana, 1932. A beautiful violin with a full throated sound and excellent playability.  $800.00

The older the fiddle, the sweeter the tune
