Below you will see a gallery of photos that represent some of the many violins in store. I've provided some insights and provenance when possible, but nothing beats trying them out and comparing. If you are not local, I can ship trial violins to you.

A beautiful Strad copy violin, made in Germany, circa early 20th Century. If you are looking for warmth and smoothness, here it is. Sweet highs, good woody lows, easy to play.

$800.00

This is a stunning and impressive hand-made violin, maker unknown, circa early 20th Century. It has a big, clear sound, sweet higher tones and good woody bass. This violin is no wall flower. It is just waiting for the right player. $800.00

A violin, apparently made in Paris, France. The violin is very old with a beautiful one-piece back, and it is most likely from around the end of the 18th Century or a little later. It is made in the style of the Hopf Family, so maybe it is really from Germany. Labels are nice, but not to be trusted in and of themselves. However, I can tell you that the workmanship definitely indicates 18th Century attributes. Furthermore, the scroll has been grafted onto a new neck. This was done back then because styles were changing from chamber music (which was played on shorter "baroque" necks to pieces written for violin that required a longer neck. (Even most of the Stradivari violins underwent such a procedure!) The violin has a smooth and woody tone, as only the centuries of aging can provide. It is not a blaster that will rock the room. Rather, it is a beautiful, warm, sweet sound with excellent playability. A lot of restoration went into this old boy to bring him back to the world. A beautiful piece of violin history.

A violin of possible German provenance. It came to us with a wrecked top. What you see is a new top of excellent spruce, hand varnished. While this violin has humble origins, you will be quite pleased with the full and clear tone it offers. This is a great steal for the price. $400.00

This is a wonderfully hand-made apparently European violin that was abused. It took many hours of work and care to bring it back to life. The results are quite pleasing. This fiddle has a smooth and velvety tone, mellow and pleasing. Inlays are green opals from Australia (not original to the violin). If you are looking for a blaster that will shame a banjo, this is NOT for you. This violin has sweet tones, very playable and ready for the right player. $400.00

A violin from the Netherlands, made in Tilburg, early part of the 20th Century, by the Maker Kessels. If you are looking for a clean, bright, expressive violin, this one is for you. It is a one-piece back. Very playable and full. $500.00
